Siemens Energy officially communicated the Special Application Module (SAM) as obsolete in 2017 reference POB_000_9_EN. SAM spare parts are no longer being distributed by the manufacturer. The SAM Module is critical to the functionality of the Controls system and a failure thereof may result in an extended downtime until respective mitigations can be performed.

Siemens Energy hosted a Virtual Seminar on Thursday 6th May 2021 for one hour to discuss the solution to migrate the SAM module into the main PLC application software.
