Simulation and training for SPPA-T3000 Control System
Whoever runs a power plant, or wants to build a new plant, faces a great challenge: The lack of qualified, well-trained power plant personnel combined with aging existing control room operators. Therefore, it is important to provide practical training for your power plant personnel. Conventional, paper-based training methods only provide information, but not routine. Under the banner of high-fidelity simulators, Siemens Energy offers several concepts for power plant simulation based on SPPA-S3000 that allow you to train your power plant personnel in a practical way for SPPA-T3000 Control System. In addition, virtual commissioning using SPPA‑S3000 can provide support for new construction projects as well as modernization projects.
The benefits of our SPPA-S3000 Simulator:
- Increased availability and safety through perfectly trained and highly-qualified power plant personnel who can master fault event conditions reliably and are specifically prepared for critical situations
- Reliable operation from day one thanks to training of personnel in advance for both new construction and modernization projects as well as power plants that are put into operation after longer outages (retrofit)
- Depending on your needs, 1:1 simulation of your specific power plant or an existing Siemens Energy reference power plant that has proven its success in operation, in high-fidelity simulation
- Absolutely realistic simulation of your power plant or a reference power plant, using the original SPPA‑S3000 Human Machine Interface (HMI), as well as an emulation of automation functions including the I/O modules and a high-fidelity process simulation
Real-life training environment, customized to specific needs: The SPPA-S3000 Individual Plant Simulator replicates your power plant in a 1:1 simulation, using the original SPPA-T3000 engineering data and process model of your plant. During operation, the simulator behaves just like the real power plant. All details on the operator screen match the original details in the control room. As a result, your power plant personnel can be trained to precisely meet the requirements. In addition, you can support and optimize your power plant’s startup/operation through virtual commissioning even before the plant is put into operation. You gain valuable information that accelerates commissioning of the real plant.
SPPA-S3000 Individual Plant Simulator
1:1 simulation – to ensure everything runs smoothly under real operating conditions
Although today’s highly automated power plants rarely require intervention by the control room operator, it is essential for your personnel to get simulator trainingin order to manage critical situations and to acquire in-depth knowledge of the power plant. Practical exercises during simulator training are preferable to dry paper or slide-based exercises for your control room operators. The more accurate the simulation of your power plant environment, the greater the learning success.
The SPPA-S3000 Individual Plant Simulator reproduces your power plant 1:1, since the simulator replicates your power plant with the original Human Machine Interface (HMI) of the SPPA-T3000 Control System 1:1. Our simulator uses the original SPPA-T3000 engineering data and a high-fidelity process model of your plant. This enables the control room operator to undergo practical and efficient simulator training.
During operation, the simulator behaves like the real power plant and all details on the operator screen match the original details in the control room. The control room operator can use the simulator training to repeat all fault events and operating conditions of the power plant until they are familiar with every reaction and procedure. Any type of practice is possible, from simple, day-to-day warm-up to intensive simulator training, whenever the need arises.
In addition to simulator training, the SPPA-S3000 Individual Plant Simulator can also be used for virtual commissioning. Virtual commissioning in a simulator environment has many advantages. For example, the SPPA-S3000 Individual Plant Simulator provides an optimum test bench for testing, correcting and optimizing SPPA-T3000 control automation functions as well as process engineering.
Additionally, the power plant’s future control room operator can be involved in the testing performed during virtual commissioning. In this way, the control room operator can gain detailed knowledge about the operation and automation of your power plant. In this way, your control room operator is highly qualified to support the commissioning of the real power plant.
Real-life training environment, ready-to-use solution: The solution SPPA-S3000 Reference Plant Simulator incorporates a process simulation which is based on an existing Siemens Energy reference power plant that has proven its success in operation. Supported reference plants include coal-fired power plants, combined cycle power plants and gas-fired power plants. The simulator utilizes the original components of the SPPA-T3000 Human Machine Interface (HMI), as well as an emulation of automation functions including the I/O modules and simulation of the reference power plant processes. The solution is deliverable on short notice and allows for detailed training on the original SPPA-T3000, even before the new construction or modernization project has been started.
SPPA-S3000 Reference Plant Simulator
Hands-on, on-site training of your power plant personnel on the power plant simulator for safe and reliable operation
Plant operation these days is highly challenging in terms of having trained and qualified power plant personnel, and that is even true with a highly-automated power plant. Fully trained power plant personnel, that know how to operate a power plant, are indispensable for safe, reliable and efficient plant operation – especially in critical situations. And yet, power plant personnel must receive the most effective training possible – before the real power plant operation starts. Effective training requires a power plant simulator, which allows repeating processes as often as possible and high-fidelity operator training, at a feasible investment volume.
The ready-to-use power plant simulator SPPA-S3000 Reference Plant Simulator from Siemens Energy utilizes the original components of the SPPA-T3000 Human Machine Interface (HMI), as well as an emulation of automation functions including the I/O modules and simulation of the reference power plant processes. The process model used in this power plant simulator is based on an existing Siemens Energy reference plant which has proven its success in operation. With the ready-to-use SPPA-S3000 Reference Plant Simulator, you can run through all possible operating scenarios in practice.
The power plant simulator training programs are repeatable. This ensures that the power plant personnel are familiar with routine actions and can react quickly and safely even in critical situations. The ready-to-use solution fulfills norm ANSI/ISA-77.20.01-2012. The solution is deliverable on short notice and allows for detailed training of the power plant personnel using the original SPPA-T3000, even before the new construction or modernization project has been started.
