Siemens Energy will be the single solution supplier for the all-electric Woodfibre LNG project in British Columbia, Canada. This environmentally friendly LNG facility will be located at the site of a former pulp and paper operation and will be sized for an overall capacity of 2.1 million tons per annum of LNG. It will utilize clean, renewable hydroelectricity.
The facility will support global decarbonization with exports to Asia, a coal-driven economy. Siemens Energy’s scope of supply includes equipment for the Main Refrigeration compressor trains, which are an integral part of the liquefaction process that produces the LNG that will eventually be stored in tanks and then transported to LNG tankers for export.
The project is expected to reach substantial completion in 2027 and be in commercial operation by September of that year.
