As the world continues to move forward with ambitious decarbonization targets, the European Union has set goals to cut CO2 emissions by 55% by 2030. One way to get there is by blending green hydrogen with natural gas as fuel for power generation. But there is currently no large-scale commercial production of electricity using hydrogen. The Wien Energie Donaustadt power plant, in the city of Vienna, is leading the way by providing the world's first proof of concept for hydrogen co-firing in Siemens Energy large gas turbines in combined cycle application. Thanks to a partnership between several key players, large-scale power production from green hydrogen can now become a reality.
Listen as our panel of experts from both Wien Energie and Siemens Energy discuss the challenges, opportunities, success factors and vision for green hydrogen power in Donaustadt and the city of Vienna.
